Why editing?

Don't you just love how God leads us into places we never expected to go?

Halfway through my bachelor's degree, I knew I needed to start getting serious about my post-graduation career. Of course, I wanted to be an author, but I knew He was calling me to something greater... Something bigger than just my own books. So after several sleepless, prayer-filled nights and a few God-appointed opportunities with a handful of beautiful writers, I decided to become an editor!

My goal is to provide writers with thorough edits and help fill the literary market with wholesome, God-honoring books all while being available and affordable.

Why me?

In May of 2023, I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Writing with an emphasis on Creative Writing (Bachelor of Science in English and Writing: Creative Writing) with Liberty University! I had the privilege of taking several editing courses that finely tuned my skills by reading many textbooks and actively critiquing the work of my fellow students. I was an editorial intern with The Fox Magazine for ten weeks, as well, and I'm also the editor of several independently published novels.

I'm also working toward my MFA in Creative Writing with Liberty University and am set to graduate in May of 2025!

What writers are saying...

Drew Taylor

Leah is one of the kindest, most intelligent editors I have had the privilege of working with. She delivers critiques in the gentlest of ways, never hesitating to shower your story with love while she’s ripping it apart. She is your biggest help and your biggest cheerleader wrapped up in one bright, brilliant ball of sunshine. One of my favorite things she does while editing is teaching you. You’ll never not know why she made an edit. You won’t regret working with her, and you may make a new friend while you’re at it!

What do I edit?

I would be more than happy to edit anything as small as a short story or as large as an entire novel. I really don't have any limitations to the type of work. However, I do have limitations when it comes to content. When working on your piece(s), my name and reputation are on the line, so I will not be editing anything that I do not stand for such as graphic sex or smut and excessive cursing. Please keep your work clean and wholesome. I would love to help promote your work after it is finished, but I won't advertise anything I don't agree with.

If I begin to edit your work and do not finish it because of content, I will only charge you (by word count) for what I edited.

What will I do for you?

The edits I do are one big package--everything listed below is included in the final price. I will exclusively make comments and suggestions, meaning you will be the only one making any final changes to your work. However, if you would prefer me to directly edit the piece, I'd be happy to do that. It's completely up to you and how you would like the edit to go! At the end of the edit, I will send a separate document with additional notes including a specified section on the overall development of your work.

If you would like a sample of my editing, I'd be happy to work on your first few pages free of charge so you can get a better feel for what I do and help you decide if I would be the best fit for you and your work! If you decide I'm not the best editor for your work, I'd be happy to give you a few recommendations of other trusted editors.

How much do I charge?

Editors can often cost an arm and a leg! I want to be available to writers who are on a strict budget but still need a solid, thorough edit.

Flash Fiction, Short Stories and/or Formal Essays

0-5,000 words

$20

5,000-10,000 words

$30

Novellas and/or Novels

10,000+ words

$3 per 1,000 words (.003¢ per word)

100,000 words = $300

80,0000 words = $240

60,000 words = $180

...and so on.

College and high school students will receive a 10% discount if proof of enrollment can be presented.

Returning clients will also receive a 10% discount. (aka the you're-an-amazing-returning-writer-and-I-love-you-and-I-can't-thank-you-enough discount!)

The payment will be invoiced at the end of the edit to ensure a fair opportunity and cost.

The main payment methods are Venmo and PayPal, but if you are unable to access either of those, I'd be happy to discuss other options!

How long will it take?

The time it takes me to edit will vary from piece to piece considering the different lengths and conditions of different projects. I can assure you that I will have your work fully edited within 3-5 weeks.
